Former Headquarter of the 129 Division of the Eighth Route Army.

The AAAA level scenic area,Former Headquarter of the 129 Division of the Eighth Route Army is located in Chian Village, 4 kilometers to the northwest of Shexian County.

During the anti-Japanese Invasion War, Liu Bocheng and Deng Xiaoping led the Eighth Route Army trooped eastward across the Yellow River to Shexian County and stayed here for six years, building the famous Liu and Deng Troops, establishing the Jinjilu Base Area, composing an immortal legend of“ 9000soldiers arriving at Shexian County and 300,000 battle men coming out of Taihang Mountain”. They have contributed a lot to China’s anti-Japanese War and the noble cause of national liberation.

The most typical building in the village is siheyuan, or courtyard house.It is often a two-storey building that’s cool in summer and warm in winter.The main house locates on the north and faces the south while the wing rooms are on both sides.In the south it is the gate and the small room.The well-preserved houses are Zhang’s Grand Courtyard, Sun’s Temple, Jia’s , Wang’s and Liu’s Grand Courtyards.

During the War, the headquarter is set in Zhang’s Grand Courtyard, where Liu Bochegn and Deng Xiaoping worked for six years.In the courtyard, there are two trees planted by the two generals.

Northwest of the headquarter is the Generals’ Hill, formerly known as Miaopo Hill and it didn’t  change name until the bodies of Liu Bocheng, Huang Zhen, Xu Xiangqian, Li Da, Wang Xinting, Yuan Ziqin, Zhao Ziyue were moved to the mountain.In 1990, Deng Xiaoping wrote the name for the mountain.
